Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) hosted the 11th BCIM Forum successfully in Dhaka on 23-24 February 2013. CPD organised this event in partnership with the High Commission of Canada, Dhaka and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES). The event comprised of four dedicated sessions on specific thematic areas, and a separate meeting of the BCIM Business Council. The event concluded with the signing of the Dhaka statement by the delegation leaders of the BCIM member countries. An event that attracted the most attention was the grand reception accorded to the 75 participants of the Kolkata to Kunming (K2K) Car Rally by the CPD with much funfair. Apart from the 48 delegates from China, India and Myanmar the various sessions of the Forum were participated by a number of Ministers and Secretaries from the Government of Bangladesh, distinguished members of the diplomatic community, academics, and civil society

Bangladesh's rate of poverty reduction has slowed down in recent years. The yearly average rate of poverty reduction has dropped from 1.7 percent, between 2005 and 2010, to 1.2 percent, between 2010 and 2016.
