  1. I became acquainted with Prof. Sobhan’s work rather late in life, in the specific context of the BCIM Forum. I greatly admire his vision — his ability to see the larger picture — and of course his sharp wit.
May I join CPD colleagues in wishing him a happy birthday on this special milestone – and many more to come.

  2. As a former student of economics at Dhaka University, I have attended courses by Prof Wahiduddin Mahmud, Prof Abul Barkat, Prof M M Akash and others. They are my GURUs and I feel Prof Rehman Sobhan as the greatest GURU as he taught my GURUs. Happy Birth Day to you and many happy returns of the day. In this opportunity, I am happy to let you know that I became father of a baby boy on the day of your 80th birthday. I wish among others, my son will also carry the intellectual legacy that you have been depositing throughout your life. I wish your healthy and happy life. Long live Rehman Sobhan.
