Research communication via digital channels for wider dissemination

Combining research communication with digital channels is crucial in giving visibility to think tank research, suggests Enrique Mendizabal, an independent researcher and advisor on think tanks and policy research networks.

Think tanks also need to monitor their inputs and outputs and incorporate communication skills in the researchers’ jobs to be able to communicate research timely and effectively via the right channels.

During his visit to the CPD office on 22 May 2014, Mr Mendizabal met with CPD research team as part of the Workshop on Research Communication, organised under Think Tank Initiative (TTI) Matching Grant and Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) programme during 18-21 May 2014, in Dhaka.

While exchanging views, he highlighted that young researchers at think tanks need to have inspiring ideas ahead to envisage positive changes in the realm of policymaking.

Participants and facilitators of the communication workshop were from the Dialogue and Communication Division of CPD; Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Pakistan and BRAC Institute of Governance and Democracy (BIGD), Dhaka (previously Institute of Governance Studies, IGS); and Ms Siobhan Duvigneau, Information Literacy Manager at British Library for Development Studies and Ms Yaso Kunaratnam, Network and Partnership Coordinator of Knowledge Services, on behalf of the PEC programme.
