State of the Bangladesh Economy in FY2008
The paper focuses on three major areas while analysing the state of the Bangladesh economy in FY2007-08. These are: a) performance of major macroeconomic correlates during the first six months of that fiscal year; b) outlook for the prospects of achieving the targets set for FY2007-08; and c) some of the major challenges facing the Caretaker Government as it moves towards the deadline set for holding the national election by the end of 2008. The paper presented a report card of the macroeconomic performance in FY2007-08 for the first six months showing seven indicators of hope, and eight indicators of disquiet.
