Citizens Discussed the Local Challenges at the Sherpur Orientation Meeting

Under the programme titled ‘Equality and Equity in Bangladesh: Sustainable Development with People’s Participation’, an orientation meeting was held in Sherpur on 3 July 2025. The event was attended by 80 members from citizen groups across Sherpur Sadar, Jhinaigati, Nalitabari, and Nakla upazilas, along with 4 community volunteers and a field coordinator.

The meeting included detailed discussions on the programme’s goals, objectives, working methodology, and future plans. The role of citizen groups, involvement of key stakeholders, and strategies for working with local populations were also exchanged. Special attention was given to how coordination with local authorities can help achieve various government services—particularly gender equality (SDG 5) and peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16).

This orientation meeting was organised by the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples Development Services (IPDS), under the management of GFA Consulting Group GmbH, with joint support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
