CPD Completes Plantation of 1,000 Trees across 16 Upazilas in Four Districts

As part of CPD’s ongoing tree-planting initiative under the national tree plantation programme, a total of 1,000 saplings have now been distributed and planted across 16 upazilas in Bogura, Sherpur, Sunamganj and Noakhali districts.

The initiative was carried out in two phases. In the first phase, 500 saplings were planted across eight upazilas in Bogura and Sherpur. In Bogura, the activity covered Gabtali, Sariakandi, Shibganj and Shajahanpur, while in Sherpur, plantation activities took place in Sherpur Sadar, Jhenaigati, Nalitabari and Nakla.

The remaining 500 saplings were subsequently distributed and planted across eight upazilas in Sunamganj and Noakhali. In Sunamganj, the initiative covered Tahirpur, Sunamganj Sadar, Bishwambharpur and Dowarabazar, while in Noakhali, the participating upazilas were Noakhali Sadar, Subarnachar, Begumganj and Sonaimuri.

Around 12 varieties of saplings were distributed, including neem, arjun, mango, guava, jackfruit, hog plum, olive, kadam, bahera, haritaki, koroi and mahogany. Citizens planted the saplings in their household premises and will continue to take responsibility for their care and maintenance.

Alongside the distribution and plantation of saplings, citizens were provided with guidance on post-plantation care, including regular watering, fencing, proper maintenance and measures to protect the trees.

With the completion of the initiative, 1,000 trees have been planted across 16 upazilas in four districts. The activity aimed not only to expand tree plantation at the community level but also to strengthen citizen awareness and participation in environmental conservation.
