CPD conference to explore Bangladesh’s multifaceted developments over 50 years

To celebrate the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) will organise a virtual international conference which will explore the country’s developments in different dimensions – politics, economy, society and culture. The conference will be organsied in collaboration with Cornell University, USA. Experts from across the world will join the conference. The proposed CPD conference aims to deepen the understanding of Bangladesh’s multifaceted developments over the last fifty years and also explore the processes that led to these changes.

This was decided by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of CPD at its 57th virtual meeting on Wednesday, 4 August 2021.

CPD Board appreciated CPD’s research and outreach-related activities during January-June 2021. Some of the research during this period include— State of the Bangladesh Economy in FY2020-21, CPD’s Recommendations for the National Budget FY2021-22; An Analysis of the National Budget for FY2021-22; Socio-Economic Recovery Measures of the Government: How Much Women Have Benefitted; the Power Sector in the National Budget for FY2022: Perspectives on Allocative Priorities & Reform Agenda; Social Protection and Employment in Budget FY2021-22: Was the focus adequate?; Recovery of the Apparels Sector from the COVID-19 Crisis: Is a Value Chain based Solution Possible?; How will we tackle the second wave of the pandemic; Moving out from the LDC group: Strategies for graduation with momentum.

The Board approved the CPD’s plan for research, dialogue, publication and outreach-related activities for July-December 2021. CPD Board also approved CPD’s interim accounts statement for January-June 2021 and budget for FY 2021-22 at the meeting.
