CPD proposed BDT 22,776 as minimum wage for tannery workers

CPD researchers proposed a minimum wage of BDT 22,776 for tannery workers in 2024, based on food costs, non-food expenses, family size, and income earners. It also reiterated its 2023 proposal for a BDT 17,568 minimum wage for RMG workers to cover living expenses. To address workplace safety, CPD recommended comprehensive training for tannery workers and faster remediation of fire-related issues in RSC factories through improved escalation protocols.
