Ms Sherajum Monira Farin, Research Associate at Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), recently participated in the WTO/ESCAP- 13th ARTNeT Capacity Building Workshop on “Empirical Trade Analysis: Structural gravity estimation and counterfactuals” held on 18-21 December 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The main focus of the workshop was to introduce and familiarize the participants with the estimation of structural gravity model, quantitative trade modelling and to the RunGTAP software. It also introduced participants to counterfactual analysis of the welfare effects of trade policy measures based on gravity results.
Ms Farin has participated actively in applying the newly-learned tools in finishing the group exercise and presented the results alongside her team members in the workshop. The four-day long intensive workshop brought together trade enthusiasts from almost 10 countries and ended with a certificate-giving ceremony.
