An Expert Group Consultation on CPD-IRBD Study titled Structural Change of Bangladesh Economy and Medium Term Planning was organised by CPD at its office on 31 March 2011. A draft concept note for thematic volume of IRBD 2011 titled Structural Transformation of Bangladesh Economy: Changes, Challenges and Chances was presented at the meeting. Dr Mustafa K Mujeri, Director General, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS); Mr M Syeduzzaman, Member, CPD Board of Trustees; Dr Ananya Raihan, Executive Director, Development Research Network (D.NeT); Dr Quazi Shahabuddin, Former Director General, BIDS; Dr Zahid Hussain, Senior Economist, The World Bank; Dr Mahabub Hossain, Executive Director, BRAC; Dr S R Osmani, Professor, University of Ulster, UK; Dr Barkat e Khuda, Professor of Economics, Dhaka University; Dr Sajjad Zohir, Director, Economic Research Group; Dr A B Mirza Azizul Islam, Former Advisor to the Caretaker Government; Dr Ahsan Habib Mansur, Executive Director, PRI; and Dr M M Akash, Professor of Economics, University of Dhaka were present at the meeting. The macroeconomic experts discussed the issues delineated in the concept note with great detail. They have also provided valuable suggestions to be included in the forthcoming IRBD thematic volume.
