An in-house expert group meeting on State of the Bangladesh Economy in FY2009-10 was arranged by the CPD on 30 May 2010, prior to the presentation of the report before the media. Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director of CPD presented the paper which focused on such issues as macroeconomic scenario in FY2009-10, inflation and price, private and public investment, performance and plan for energy sector, agriculture and food security, employment generation programmes of the government, attaining MDGs in health and education sectors, performance and outlook of the external sector in view of recovery from the global recession, and macroeconomic management and major challenges in FY2010-11. Amongst those who took part in the discussion were Dr Rushidan Islam Rahman, Research Director, BIDS; Dr Mahabub Hossain, Executive Director, BRAC; Mr Md Aminur Rahman, Member, Income Tax Policy, NBR; Dr A B Mirza Azizul Islam, Former Advisor to the Caretaker Government; Mr Zakir Ahmed Khan, Former Secretary, Finance Division; and Mr Muhammad Abdul Mazid, Former Chairman, NBR. CPD senior officials and researchers were also present at the meeting.
