Dr Fahmida Khatun, Research Director, Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) made a presentation on “What Special and Differential Treatment for LDCs in WTO?” at a Regional Multi-stakeholders Dialogue for West and Central Africa titled “Strengthening the Readiness of West and Central African Negotiators for the 9th WTO Ministerial Conference in Bali”.
The event was organised in Dakar, Senegal during 25-26 September 2013 by the African Centre for Trade, Integration and Development (Enda CACID) – a centre of resource and expertise on trade and integration based in Dakar – in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce of Senegal, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), and the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF).
The Dialogue brought together around fifty high-level officials from the states of West and Central Africa, who will be taking part in the Bali conference in December 2013. It was also attended by some Geneva-based negotiators, experts and representatives of regional institutions, the private sector, civil society, parliamentarians and the media, among others.
