Chinese economic and political implications on the low income countries (LICs) in the Asia Pacific region have to be counter-balanced with strategies that maximise the benefits in a mutually rewarding manner, said Professor Mustafizur Rahman at an international conference on China’s development.
Professor Rahman was addressing “China’s New Development and its Regional Implications – China and Asia as Partners in Development” as a Discussant at the International Conference on “China’s New Development: Common Visions for Asian – European Co-operation.”
Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) organised the conference during 16-19 June 2014 in Tutzing, Germany.
Re-Thinking Asia is an annual Forum, which intends to stimulate a visionary debate on Asian politics in the 21st century and their impact on global policies affecting Europe. The 2014 Re-thinking Asia Forum was centered on the politico-economic dynamics evolving from China’s designated new economic pattern.
The Forum brought together a hand-picked group of leading politicians, distinguished academics and experienced practitioners from Germany, Europe and Asia to facilitate the space for courageous and visionary ways of thinking about future Asian-European co-operation.
