Macroeconomy and Public Policy Analysis

Dr Bhattacharya is a macroeconomist and public policy analyst, and currently a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), Dhaka. He is a former ambassador and permanent representative of Bangladesh to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and UN Offices of Geneva and Vienna, and special adviser on LDCs to the Secretary-General of UNCTAD. Dr Bhattacharya sits in many international expert groups, governing bodies of a number of leading institutions and editorial board of reputed journals. He has published extensively on pro-poor macroeconomics, development challenges of the LDCs and issues related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr Bhattacharya has studied in Dhaka, Moscow and Oxford. He held a number of visiting positions, including at the Centre for Global Development (CGD), Washington DC. Dr Bhattacharya is the chair of two global initiatives, viz. LDC IV Monitor and Southern Voice on Post-MDG International Development Goals.

আমি প্রথমেই মনে করি, অর্থনৈতিক পরিস্থিতির ওপর একটা শ্বেতপত্র তৈরি করা দরকার। শ্বেতপত্র তৈরি করলে স্বচ্ছ ধারণা পাওয়া যাবে। এই মুহূর্তে অর্থনীতিতে যে জটিল পরিস্থিতি রয়েছে, তা জানার জন্য এবং পরিস্থিতি থেকে উত্তরণের জন্য যা হবে একটি নির্দেশিকা।
