Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, CPD, was part of a delegation which met the Prime Minister of Nepal, H.E. K. P. Sharma Oli and handed over the recommendations of BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks (BNPTT). The recommendations were prepared in view of the upcoming BIMSTEC Summit to be held in Kathmandu on August 30-31, 2018.
The recommendations emerged from a discussion attended by the representatives of the BNPTT which was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on August 25-26, 2018. The event was hosted by the Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Research (ISSR), Nepal. The recommendations highlighted the need for expeditious completion of the negotiations on BIMSTEC-FTA, putting in place trade facilitation measures, deepening connectivity and ways and means to take advantage of the mountain economy and blue economy.
