Due to the need for an effective local government department to meet the multifaceted needs of the people, special importance has been given by the government to the Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) department. The contribution of local government to national development has also increased significantly. This progress has been made possible by the gradual increase in the allocation rate to the ADP in the local government department. Keeping these in mind, this policy brief sheds light on LGRD related allocations in the proposed national budget for FY2022–23, especially in views of the Annual Development Programme and 8th Five Year Plan.
