A team of CPD high officials took part as resource persons at various sessions of a two-day meeting that was co-organised by the Southern Voice on Post-MDG International Development Goals (Southern Voice) in collaboration with International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), LDC IV Monitor and United Nations Foundation (UNF) during 24-25 June 2013 in New York.
The meeting titled “Shaping the Post-2015 Development Agenda: The LDC Perspective” was organised in view of the recent major developments in the global discourse on post-MDG agendas including releases of several reports by the High Level Panel on Post-2015, the UNDG consultations, the Regional Commissions and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and with the initiation of the operation of the SDGs Open Working Group.
The meeting was moderated by Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya, Distinguished Fellow, CPD and Chairs of Southern Voice and LDC IV Monitor. Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Executive Director, CPD was the panelist in the session titled “Moving Forward with the Post-2015 Process: Addressing the Interests of Countries with Special Needs.” Dr Fahmida Khatun, Research Director, CPD made a presentation on “Review of Post-2015 Reports: Views from the Global South” at a session with the same title.
Experts from the global South attending the meeting explored opportunities and challenges to implementing the goals that address both the existing and emerging issues identifiable in LDCs, yet relevant to all countries and fundamental to the post-2015 and SDG discussions.
