CPD’s activism on the National Budget began during mid-March, providing a set of recommendations as input to the budget-making process, which was facilitated by a comprehensive assessment of the state of the Bangladesh economy. Before the release of National Budget, the state of the Bangladesh economy was analysed again to address the emerging macroeconomic issues. After the National Budget was released, an immediate reaction was provided by CPD to highlight the merits and discrepancies of the proposed budget.

Later, the think tank conducted a thorough analysis of the proposals presented in the National Budget, assessing their ramifications across various sectors and delivering pertinent recommendations for the National Budget. Additionally, the think tank assessed the extent to which the National Budget contributed to the well-being of marginalised populations and explored avenues for incorporating their voices in the budgetary considerations, especially during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) period.
