Doing Good Index 2026

The Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS), released the 2026 edition of its flagship study, the Doing Good Index. The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), has been one of the partners of CAPS in this study.

The Doing Good Index 2026 examines the enabling environment for private social investment across 17 Asian economies, focusing on four key pillars: regulations, tax and fiscal policy, ecosystem, and government procurement.

The findings highlight a critical challenge, emphasising that while many countries have established policies and frameworks to support the social sector, these systems do not always work effectively together. Social delivery organisations continue to face challenges in accessing funding, recruiting talent and participating in government procurement.

Bangladesh remains in the “Not Doing Enough” cluster, with persistent challenges across regulatory, fiscal, ecosystem and procurement dimensions. At the same time, the country shows signs of improvement in some areas.

The study shows that Asian economies have made progress in strengthening parts of the infrastructure for doing good. But improvement in components does not automatically mean enhanced performance.
