Ms Afrin Mahbub has a consistent record of producing high-impact, policy-relevant research across various themes, including environmental economics, climate change, inflation, debt sustainability, trade, investment, value chain analysis, education, and youth employment. Her core strengths are in designing, managing, and delivering complex research projects with accuracy and depth. She has a solid command of both quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as advanced data management, statistical analysis, survey design, and field research coordination. She has led multiple research projects for organisations including the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, the Embassy of Denmark, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, FCDO, and the International Growth Centre (IGC). Additionally, Ms Mahbub contributed significantly to researching and authoring technical papers and case studies on Bangladesh’s experience with the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) within the Task Force on Climate, Development, and the IMF, led by Boston University’s Global Development Policy Centre. Her work on CPD’s Green Cities Initiative demonstrates a profound understanding of survey methodology, data quality assurance, and policy-relevant data collection. She has co-authored a book on economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan, contributed a chapter on investment opportunities in BIMSTEC, and authored another regarding women in corporate workplaces in Bangladesh, along with several working papers, policy briefs, and academic articles on diverse and pressing development issues. Before joining CPD, Ms Afrin Mahbub worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS).
