CPD Climate Week Recognises Excellence in Climate Olympiad, Policy Cases and Green Projects

The final day of the CPD Climate Week 2025 was a resounding success, highlighting the power of youth-driven innovation in addressing climate change. Held on 21 October 2025, the day featured a series of exciting competitions and presentations, culminating in an awards ceremony that recognised the exceptional contributions of young climate advocates.

The event began with the Climate Olympiad, which tested participants’ problem-solving abilities in climate science and policy. Facilitated by Mr Avra Bhattacharjee, Additional Director of Dialogue and Outreach at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), the competition saw impressive entries from young people passionate about climate action. The winners of the Olympiad were:

  • First Prize: Humera Anisha Hussein Tony
  • Second Runner-Up: Fahim Montaser
  • Third Runner-Up: PM Ishtiak Ahmed Jamun

The Policy Case Presentation followed, with five teams presenting innovative solutions to climate challenges. The winning teams were:

  • 1st Place: Team TBS (Naoshin Sharmin, Nurshalin Islam Shifat, Naimul Islam)
  • 2nd Place: Team 3 Zero (Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik, Amlan Deb Nath, Md. Tanvir Alam)

The teams’ solutions were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges, including:

  • Mr. Sayed Jubair Bin Hossain, Lecturer, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka
  • Dr. Sayera Younus, Senior Researcher, CPD
  • Dr. Dwijen Mallick, Senior Researcher, CPD

The Green Project Exhibition showcased innovative and sustainable projects aimed at addressing climate resilience. The competition was judged by:

  • Mr. Ashis Kumar Basak, General manager at Ha-Meem Group
  • Mr. Siddhartho Goshwami, Lead of Sustainable Entrepreneurship at GenLab
  • Mr. Fahim Uddin Shuvo, Founder, CEO, and Managing Director of Garbageman

The winners of the Green Project Exhibition included:

  • 1st Place: Eco-Craft: Repurposing Tetra Pak and Plastic Bottle Waste for Climate Resilience in Urban Slums of Bangladesh (Hashimukh Somaj Kallayan Songstha)
  • 2nd Place: BCEP Project (Shakti Foundation)
  • 3rd Place: Ecolery: Edible Cutlery for a Sustainable Future (Ecolery)

The exhibition featured projects from across Bangladesh, all demonstrating the power of innovation in tackling environmental challenges.
