Urbanisation, Migration and Development in Bangladesh
Recent Trends and Emerging Issues
As part of the CPD-UNFPA collaborative programme the CPD has planned to bring out a series of publications in order to facilitate wider dissemination of the findings of the various studies to be prepared under the aforementioned CPD-UNFPA programme. The present paper on the theme of Urbanization, Migration and Development in Bangladesh: Recent Trends and Emerging Issues has been prepared by Professor Nazrul Islam of the Department of Geography and Environment, University of Dhaka. The paper was presented at the launching National Workshop on Populaiton, Development and Urbanisation: The Emerging Issues which was organised by the Centre on July 4, 1999.
This paper analyses the recent trends on migration and urbanisation, and documents the emerging critical issues which have impact on national development.
