Year in Review 2023: SAES XIV

The Fourteenth South Asian Economic Summit (SAES XIV), organised by CPD, emerged as one of the major events of the year. Co-organised by prestigious institutions—Research and Information Centre for Developing Countries (RIS), Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS), Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE)—the summit attracted 600 participants from Bangladesh and across South Asia, making it one of the year’s largest gatherings. With a theme of ‘Reframing South Asian Regional Cooperation in the New Context: National and Global Dimensions‘, SAES XIV facilitated dynamic discussions among 70 panelists in various sessions. As a beacon for regional collaboration, the summit’s success underscores its significance as a driving force in shaping the discourse on South Asian economic cooperation and integration.
